  Family meal for a birthday and going away celebration. Large party booked in advance. Lots of catching up on arrival so didn't sit straight down. This seemed to irritate certain staff members and I overheard comments clearly not for customer ears about this. Order taken in a timely manner, all options available and happy to accommodate children eating quickly. Good choice of starters and mains. All food was very well cooked and delicious. Service was prompt but unobtrusive. Service charge added as standard for 8+ covers but final bill reasonable. Would visit again for a special occasion.

  My family and i stayed at the bear, the night before my wedding. There was about 18 of us and we were all able to sit down for food together. The service was attentive and very helpful. The hotel at the time was going through a refurbishment. I unfortunately stayed in one of the older rooms, which was still perfectly fine, however, after going into one of my family members I could see how good the rooms will all look so I was jealous. Fantastic hotel, staff, building and service. One down is the parking, but there is a car park behind the hotel.
